From that first gig at the legendary Tavastia-club, to performing at most of the top clubs in Helsinki and opening up for the one and only Ice Cube, Helsinki based rapper JAG has worked hard to stay relevant among today’s flurry of up-and-coming rap artists.
While the debut release “Average Jay EP” (2009) displayed a variety of styles and further ensured JAG’s position as an up and coming MC, itwasn’t until later in ’09 that he got properly noticed through the Bluf-produced, Sergeantman-featured late-summer single “Sunshine Vibes”, which got relatively much time on the airwaves considering the artist’s unsigned status.
JAG's debut full length album, titled So Far No Good and produced in its entirety by Patrick “Bluf” Gripenwaldt, was released in 2012 through JAG’s and Bluf’s own JBH Productions, in cooperation with Stockholm based record label MusicMall. Since then JAG has continued to spread his music across the borders, leading to shows in Russia and Estonia.
The sophomore album, "Detention", was released in the late summer of 2014 through JBH Productions. Featuring 90's inspired beats by Bluf and JAG, as well as JAG's most noticed tune to date, the hard hitting Jarkko Ehnqvist-produced "Vamonos", along JAG's witty wordplay, "Detention" will keep your head nodding from start to finish.
